What's Happening at the Grove?

From classic tales to modern adventures, students at Walnut Grove Elementary brought their favorite characters to life for the school's book character parade.

TCAP review took an unexpected turn at Walnut Grove Elementary where fifth graders practiced their math skills while performing "surgery" at Fraction General Hospital.

This week's featured schools are Nolensville High and Walnut Grove Elementary.

On Friday, November 17, Walnut Grove Elementary hosted its annual Read-a-Thon event. The students and staff dressed up as their favorite book characters and paraded around the school.

On their first day back at school, the teachers at Walnut Grove were greeted by a surprise visit from Williamson County Sheriff's Office Deputy Keith Chapman who talked about the similarities between teaching and flying a helicopter.

Students at Grassland, Hunters Bend and Walnut Grove elementary schools recently joined voices for a special event in Franklin.

A WCS principal and teacher are being recognized at the State level for excellence in their schools. Walnut Grove Elementary Principal Dr. Kate Donnelly, who was named the WCS Principal of the Year, is a Region-Level Semifinalist for the 2023-24 Tennessee Principal of the Year.

The Schools of the Week spotlight is on Walnut Grove Elementary and Nolensville High this week.

WCS Superintendent Jason Golden and other district leaders traveled around the county January 10 to surprise the system-wide Teachers of the Year and the Principal of the Year.
